Professor Joanna Shapland is the Edward Bramley Professor of Criminal Justice in the School of Law, University of Sheffield, UK. She has research interests in restorative justice, victimology and desistance. She directed the main national evaluation of restorative justice for the Ministry of Justice in England and Wales, as well as a subsequent project looking at police implementation of restorative justice, and is the Chair of the Restorative Justice Forum (Scotland), which brings together statutory and voluntary sector agencies, as well as the Scottish Government and the judiciary, to discuss the development of restorative justice in Scotland. She is also the Executive Editor of the International Review of Victimology.
